Project Support Officer CV and Previous Skills Examples

Employment History and Relevant Skills and Experience examples for EO and HEO Project Support Officer applications

Civil Service application forms often separate Employment History from Previous Skills and Experience. Employment History is normally a factual timeline. Previous Skills and Experience should make the vacancy requirements easy to match to concise evidence.

The CV section sets up the evidence. Full STAR answers belong in personal statements and behaviour statements.

Read the vacancy instructions first

Some campaigns want job titles and dates only. Others ask for duties, achievements, technical skills or a fixed word count. Follow the vacancy instruction before applying any general format.

Employment History

Unless the advert asks for more, keep Employment History factual:

~ Department for Public Services | Project Administrator | April 2024 to present

~ Regional Operations Centre | Service Support Officer | January 2022 to March 2024

~ Northborough Council | Administrator | August 2019 to December 2021

Relevant Skills and Experience

Use one concise evidence slot for every important point in the advert. Use the criterion as the label where this helps the sifter, then name the real setting and your contribution.

Do not turn every slot into a STAR answer. A strong evidence map should be quick to scan and should leave the detailed story for the parts of the application designed for it.

Short HEO example

~ Planning and reporting: Established the weekly status cycle for the Customer Service Transformation Project, consolidated four workstream updates and challenged milestone dates that did not match the integrated plan.

That is enough detail for one slot. It shows the requirement, the context and the applicant's contribution without reproducing a full example.

Common mistakes

  • Using Employment History for long duty descriptions and leaving Previous Skills and Experience vague.
  • Writing full STAR answers under each criterion.
  • Listing project tools without showing what information or control they supported.
  • Repeating the same evidence under several headings without adding anything new.
  • Missing an essential requirement because similar criteria were combined too broadly.
  • Using HEO labels around evidence that only shows routine updating or administration.
