Complete SEO and Grade 7 examples with grade-specific commentary
Senior project delivery personal statements need to show scale, judgement and ownership. Recruiters should be able to see what you were accountable for, how you controlled complex delivery and how your decisions affected the intended outcome.
This page gives the basic approach first, followed by four complete examples for SEO and Grade 7 roles.

What should a strong statement cover?
The vacancy controls the final content. Common programme and senior project criteria include programme or project leadership, planning and controls, risk and dependency management, governance, stakeholder influence, business cases, benefits, resources, commercial awareness and business change.
Your statement should make the relationship between these areas clear. Senior delivery work is rarely a series of unrelated achievements. Strong evidence shows how you used several disciplines to protect one outcome.
What changes at SEO?
At SEO, show ownership of a defined programme or a substantial project. Useful evidence includes integrating plans, directing workstream leads, managing dependencies, advising governance, making delivery recommendations and ensuring the business is ready for change.
What changes at Grade 7?
At Grade 7, the evidence should show wider organisational impact and stronger leadership through others. You may set governance, lead project managers, advise an SRO or Directors, manage significant commercial or financial constraints and make recommendations where there is no risk-free option.
Common personal statement mistakes
- Opening with a long summary of years of experience and leaving little room for evidence.
- Describing programme controls without explaining any decisions made from them.
- Listing many projects while never showing accountability for the combined outcome.
- Using the same level of evidence for SEO and Grade 7, with only the job titles changed.
- Claiming a successful transformation because systems launched, with no evidence of adoption, readiness or benefits.
- Giving every stakeholder interaction equal weight instead of focusing on the difficult decisions and influence.
