Passage

Routine samples are tested for nitrate concentration. A result above 45 milligrams per litre triggers a repeat sample within 24 hours. If the repeat result exceeds 50 milligrams per litre, the supplier must begin corrective action and notify the regulator. A first result above 50 does not remove the requirement for the repeat sample unless an immediate public-health direction is issued.

Statement

A routine result of 48 milligrams per litre requires another sample, but does not by itself trigger the stated corrective-action rule.
