Administrative Assistant (AA) – Teamwork Personal Statement Examples

How to show teamwork in an AA Civil Service personal statement

Teamwork is common in Administrative Assistant job adverts. The wording may vary, but the sifter usually wants to see that you can work well with colleagues, share information, support team tasks, and help work move forward.

At AA level, teamwork should feel practical. A strong example could involve helping colleagues during a busy period, sharing updates, supporting a new starter, covering a task, or working with another team to complete admin work.

The strongest teamwork examples show what the team needed to achieve, what your role was, and how your actions helped. The sifter should be able to see that you contributed to the team rather than simply being present in it.

What teamwork criteria can look like

Civil Service AA job adverts may use wording such as:

Works well with others and contributes to team goals

Builds and maintains positive working relationships

Supports colleagues and shares information as needed

Use the exact wording from the job advert where you can. If the application box allows headings, you can use the criterion itself as the heading. This helps the sifter see exactly which part of the advert you are answering.

What your teamwork example needs to show

A strong teamwork example should show the team situation and what needed to be done.

It should also show your personal contribution. This could include sharing information, taking on a task, helping a colleague, updating a tracker, covering a gap, or making sure the right people had the right information.

A strong result can be simple. The team met a deadline, avoided duplicated work, reduced delays, completed a handover properly, or kept service moving during a busy period.

Why a strong teamwork answer works

A strong answer works because it shows the applicant doing something useful for the team.

A weak answer might say, “I am a good team player.” A strong answer shows the team goal, the problem, the applicant’s action, and the result.

The best answers also show awareness of other people. This could mean noticing a colleague needed help, sharing information clearly, adjusting how work was split, or helping a new starter understand a process.

For an AA role, the example should stay realistic. The sifter should see someone who can support colleagues, communicate clearly, and help team tasks get completed properly.
