How to show customer service in an AO personal statement
Customer service evidence can come from retail, hospitality, reception, call centres, volunteering, education, healthcare, administration or any role where another person relied on you for information or action. The setting matters less than the evidence.
The strongest examples usually show that you listened, clarified the need, applied the correct process, communicated in a suitable way, stayed professional and reached a practical outcome. Where the issue was outside your authority, sensible escalation is a strength rather than a weakness.

Why a strong customer service answer works
A strong answer gives the sifter evidence instead of claims. A weak answer might say, “I always deliver excellent customer service and remain professional.” A strong answer shows the applicant listening to a real customer, checking the relevant process, explaining the options, taking ownership and reaching a clear outcome.
The best AO examples also show basic judgement. This might mean recognising an urgent issue, finding an approved alternative, checking understanding, involving a supervisor or recording a handover so the customer receives a consistent service.
