How to prepare commercial interview answers
For behaviour questions, use B-STAR as a preparation method: begin with a short belief or approach, then give a focused Situation, Task, Action and Result. Keep the belief brief so the evidence remains the main part of the answer.
Strength answers should be shorter and sound natural. Technical and scenario questions need a clear decision process. Explain what you would check, how you would use commercial evidence and where governance, legal or specialist input would be required.

- How market conditions affect a sourcing strategy.
- How you manage supplier performance and contract change.
- How you prepare and conduct negotiations.
- How you protect fairness, ethics and a defensible audit trail.
- How you distinguish decisions within your authority from matters that require escalation.
- At Grade 7, how you lead commercial strategy and capability through others.
