Working Together is about creating trusted relationships across boundaries so people can solve shared problems, challenge assumptions and deliver without excluding or exhausting colleagues. For a Grade 6 role, this usually means building networks across functions, departments or partner organisations while resolving competing priorities and creating an inclusive, sustainable way of working.
A strong example should make clear the shared objective, the relationships you deliberately built and how you handled challenge, compromise, inclusion and wellbeing. The result should show joint delivery, faster resolution across boundaries, better use of expertise, improved trust or a sustainable partnership that continued after the immediate task.

What are the Working Together criteria at Grade 6 level?
The official senior-grade behaviour guidance contains 7 points for Working Together. Your vacancy may assess only selected parts, but the statement should make the relevant wording easy to see in your evidence.
actively build and maintain a network of colleagues and contacts to achieve progress on shared objectives
challenge assumptions while being willing to compromise if beneficial to progress
build strong interpersonal relationships and show genuine care for colleagues
ensure consideration and support for the wellbeing of yourself and individuals throughout the team
understand the varying needs of the team to ensure they are supported and their experiences are utilised
create an inclusive working environment where all opinions and challenges are taken into account and bullying, harassment and discrimination are unacceptable
remain available and approachable to all colleagues and be receptive to new ideas
How to structure your statement
Use a simple structure: Situation, Task, Action and Result. Do not place these labels in the final statement unless the application specifically asks for them.
Situation
Use one or two sentences to set the context. State the service, programme, policy or professional area and the problem that made the example important.
Task
Make your accountability explicit. For Working Together, the task should identify the shared objective, the relationships you deliberately built and how you handled challenge, compromise, inclusion and wellbeing.
Action
Give most of the words to the decisions and actions that demonstrate Working Together. Explain how you used evidence, led or involved others and responded when the situation changed. For this behaviour, keep the action centred on the shared objective, the relationships you deliberately built and how you handled challenge, compromise, inclusion and wellbeing.
Result
Show what changed because of your action. A strong result may include joint delivery, faster resolution across boundaries, better use of expertise, improved trust or a sustainable partnership that continued after the immediate task. Use accurate measures where they help, but keep the result tied to the behaviour.
