What to Include as Grievance Evidence

Grievance evidence should help an investigator answer a defined question. The strongest file is organised, dated and honest about what each item proves. A large bundle without a chronology or explanation can hide the best evidence rather than strengthen the complaint.

What can count as evidence

Useful material can include emails, messages, meeting notes, work records, policies, decision letters, allocation data, diaries, medical or adjustment records, witness accounts and documents showing how comparable situations were handled. Relevance matters more than volume.

Preserve evidence lawfully

Keep original records and avoid altering screenshots or documents. Do not access systems, personal files or confidential material without authority. If a document contains information about other people, use it only where necessary and ask your representative for advice on safe handling.
