Operational Delivery Manager Behaviour Statement Examples

Complete behaviour examples for EO, HEO, SEO and Grade 7 operational delivery roles

Operational delivery behaviour examples work best when the service problem is clear and the candidate shows how their actions affected people, performance or customer outcomes.

The behaviours selected here are Leadership, Managing a Quality Service and Delivering at Pace because they closely match common operational management work. The vacancy may assess different behaviours.

What strong operational behaviour evidence looks like

Use one specific situation and make the behaviour visible through your decisions. A good operational example usually contains real service pressure, competing needs, people or customer impact and a result that can be connected to what you did.

The grade difference should come from scale and responsibility. EO examples can show direct team leadership. HEO examples should show management of a substantial service area. SEO examples should show leadership through managers and cross-team complexity. Grade 7 examples should show wider direction, governance and accountability.

Common reasons operational behaviour statements score poorly

  • Most of the answer describes the service instead of the candidate's actions.
  • The result is only that a target was met, with no explanation of quality or customer impact.
  • Leadership is reduced to allocating work and holding meetings.
  • Managing a Quality Service becomes a list of quality checks with no improvement or customer understanding.
  • Delivering at Pace becomes working faster without prioritisation, support or risk management.
  • Senior examples describe direct supervision while leaving leadership through managers and wider accountability unclear.
