Project Delivery Manager CV and Previous Skills Examples

Employment History and Relevant Skills and Experience examples for EO, HEO, SEO and Grade 7

Civil Service application forms often separate Employment History from Previous Skills and Experience. Employment History is usually a factual timeline. Previous Skills and Experience is the evidence map that helps the sifter match you to the advert.

The CV section should establish where your relevant evidence sits. Full STAR examples belong in the personal statement and behaviour sections.

Read the vacancy instructions first

Civil Service CV sections are handled differently across recruitment campaigns. Some adverts ask for job titles and dates only. Others request duties, achievements, named criteria or a fixed word count. Read the advert, person specification and attachments before writing and follow any clear instruction first.

There is often limited public scoring guidance for the CV section. The method on this page is a practical way to make evidence visible. It cannot guarantee a sift pass.

Employment History

Use a plain timeline unless the vacancy asks for more detail:

~ Department or employer | Job title | Dates

~ Department or employer | Previous job title | Dates

Keep detailed evidence for the next box when the application provides one.

Relevant Skills and Experience

Use one concise evidence slot for every important advert point. This includes essential criteria, relevant desirable criteria, responsibilities and person specification requirements. Use the advert wording as the label where it helps the sifter.

Each slot should identify the setting, your personal contribution and a useful result, output or responsibility. It should remain short enough to scan. Avoid turning each entry into a complete STAR answer.

Short HEO example

~ Planning and controls: Built the integrated plan for the Visitor Access Replacement Project, agreed milestone evidence with security and estates leads, and introduced weekly exception reporting against the critical path.

This gives the sifter a clear evidence location. The personal statement can later explain the cabling issue, options, recommendation and result in full.

Common mistakes

  • Using Employment History for long duty descriptions and leaving the evidence box vague.
  • Copying the advert into headings without giving any specific evidence.
  • Writing a full STAR answer under every criterion.
  • Listing tools such as Jira, MS Project or Power BI without explaining how they supported delivery.
  • Combining unrelated criteria into one broad claim.
  • Using evidence that does not match the advertised grade or complexity.
