The final weeks in a Civil Service role usually involve a handover, access changes, equipment return and sometimes an exit interview. A controlled exit protects the service and gives you a clear record that obligations were completed.

Build a usable handover
List live work, deadlines, decisions, risks, owners, key contacts and the location of official records. Keep it factual and proportionate.
Do not move departmental information to a personal account.
Exit interview
An exit interview is usually an opportunity to give feedback. Decide in advance what you want recorded and support important points with concise examples.
Do not assume the interview replaces a grievance, whistleblowing or formal correction route.
Return and deletion
- Laptop, phone and accessories.
- Security passes and keys.
- Tokens or authentication devices.
- Paper files.
- Procurement or credit cards.
- Any locally issued equipment.
- Departmental data held on approved devices or locations.
Civil Service departments use different contracts, policies and approval routes. Check your own contract, intranet guidance, scheme documents and any letter you have received before acting.
Members can unlock the complete handover template, exit-interview preparation, equipment receipt wording and a final-week schedule that protects both the service and your own records.
