Why Civil Service Online Test Scores Can Change
Hello,
I completed a Civil Service test for one vacancy and received a high percentile. A few weeks later I took a test with a similar name for another role and the result was much lower.
I felt that I answered both tests in the same way. The jobs were at different grades and the second test seemed to include harder scenarios.
Does the change mean my ability has dropped, or are the scores calculated differently?
Quick Answer
A changed score does not automatically mean your ability has changed. The test type, job level, question difficulty, comparison group and your responses can all affect the result. Check whether the same assessment and grade grouping were used before treating the two percentiles as directly comparable.
