What the panel is testing
At EO level, prepare evidence that you can choose effective channels, explain ideas clearly and manage challenging conversations sensitively. The panel will test the detail behind your actions, including what you knew, what you decided, how you involved other people and how the outcome was checked.

communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing
take time to consider the best communication channel to use for the audience, including making the best of digital resources and considering value for money
interact with others in an enthusiastic way
express ideas clearly and with respect for others
listen to and value different ideas, views and ways of working
respond constructively and objectively to comments and questions
handle challenging conversations with confidence and sensitivity
Have examples involving customers, colleagues, managers or external partners so you can show adaptation.

Know why you chose the channel
Explain why email, a meeting, a call, a visual guide or a digital session suited the audience and offered value.

Show listening and adjustment
Prepare what you learned from questions or disagreement and how it changed your message or proposal.

Include challenge
At least one example should involve resistance, difficult news, misunderstanding or a sensitive conversation.

State the communication result
Show agreement, action, understanding, reduced confusion or another outcome caused by the communication.

Describe a time you maintained enthusiasm during difficult communication.
What to prepare: How you stayed credible and positive without minimising difficulty.
Give an example of making communication more accessible or cost effective.
