EO personal statements
Show how your cooperation made the group more effective
EO teamwork evidence should include shared ownership, active listening, support and a practical change in how people worked together. It is stronger when the result depended on cooperation across roles or teams.

Teamwork is not proved by saying you are supportive or enjoy working with others. The evidence should show what the group needed to achieve, how responsibilities connected and what you personally did to improve cooperation, inclusion or resilience.

How to show teamwork in an EO personal statement

Choose a situation where other people’s contribution mattered. Explain the shared goal, the pressure or difference that affected the group, how you listened and supported others, and how your actions helped the team deliver rather than simply completing your own allocation.

What strong teamwork evidence needs to show

1
Shared goal
Make the team outcome and your role in it clear.
2
Contribution
Show your own work as well as how you enabled others.
3
Listening and inclusion
Include different views, experience or working needs.
4
Support and adaptation
Explain how you changed plans, shared knowledge or helped a colleague.
5
Team result
Show what the group achieved and what improved in the way it worked.

Common advert wording

  • “Able to work collaboratively to achieve shared objectives”
  • “Able to support colleagues and contribute to an inclusive team”
  • “Able to resolve differences and maintain positive working relationships”

Why weak evidence loses value

Weak teamwork evidence says the applicant is a team player and helps when asked. Strong evidence shows a shared dependency, purposeful communication, support, constructive challenge and a result that the individual could not have produced alone.
