You can resign during Civil Service probation, but the notice period and exit process may differ from those for established staff. Check the probation terms in your contract and departmental policy before setting a final date.

Probation documents may set a shorter notice period or a distinct approval route. They may also explain how leave, performance records and confirmation of service are handled.
If you are moving to another Civil Service role, confirm whether the receiving organisation treats the move as a transfer and whether probation will continue or restart.
Resigning during a probation concern
Where review meetings or concerns are active, resignation does not automatically erase the record. Keep your notice concise and decide separately whether you need to correct factual inaccuracies.
Ask for the final status and leaving date in writing.

- Reference or service confirmation.
- Whether a new Civil Service appointment is a transfer.
