What is the practical difference between an EO and HEO application?

How EO and HEO Application Evidence Usually Differ

Hello,

I am an EO applying for HEO roles. The behaviour names and application boxes look similar, so I am struggling to understand what should change in the evidence.

My EO examples show that I organise work, solve customer problems and support colleagues. For HEO applications I have been making the wording sound more senior, but the examples are still based on the same day-to-day responsibilities.

What practical difference should a sifter see between an EO and HEO application?

Quick Answer

HEO evidence normally needs clearer ownership of a workstream, service issue or decision, with more visible judgement and influence across people or teams. Changing the vocabulary is not enough. The example itself should show broader responsibility and consequences.
