Passage
The benefits service has introduced telephone interpretation for customers who need help in a language that staff do not speak. Advisers call an approved provider, who connects an interpreter within the same appointment. Customers can still request an in-person interpreter for complex meetings, but this usually requires advance booking. The telephone service is intended to reduce delays for routine enquiries and urgent requests.
Statement
Customers with routine enquiries may receive language support without arranging an interpreter before the appointment.
