I am getting interviews at HEO but cannot pass SEO interviews. What needs to change?

Why HEO Interview Answers Can Fall Short at SEO

Hello,

I am currently a HEO and have reached several SEO interviews. My written applications usually score well, so I think the examples are relevant. At interview I tend to receive scores of 3 or 4, with feedback saying I need more strategic detail and clearer leadership.

Most of my examples involve leading workstreams, coordinating colleagues and briefing senior managers. I explain the result, although I may spend too much time describing the project and what the team did.

What should I change so the same experience comes across at SEO level?

Quick Answer

The main change is usually the level of ownership and judgement made visible in the answer. SEO panels need to hear what you personally decided, how you handled competing risks, how you influenced delivery beyond your own tasks and what wider outcome followed.
