The interview invitation and the original advert should tell you what will be assessed. Review both. Behaviour questions require developed examples. Strength questions are shorter and focus on what you do well, use regularly and find motivating. Experience and technical questions may require direct explanation, examples or a presentation.
The behaviour pages below contain twelve realistic questions, four full model answers, likely follow-up areas and a preparation checklist. Use the shared strengths hub for strengths because Civil Service strengths are not defined by grade.

A useful behaviour answer structure
| Part | What to cover | Common risk |
|---|---|---|
| Belief or approach | A short statement explaining how you think about the issue. | A long generic speech that delays the example. |
| Situation | The setting, outcome and relevant difficulty. | Too much organisational history. |
| Task | Your responsibility, authority and objective. | Using we without explaining your own role. |
| Action | Your decisions, evidence, communication, coordination and controls. | Listing activity without reasoning. |
| Result | Outcome, measure, value and practical learning. | A vague claim that everyone was happy. |
