Previous question  |  Back to question bank  |  Next question

Read the scenario and rate every action independently. More than one action can receive the same rating.

Test part: Part 2: Effectiveness ratings
Level: Administrative Assistant / Administrative Officer
Strength pair: Analytical / Problem Solver
Practice focus: Analytical
Difficulty: Easy

Scenario

You update a shared tracker used for the team's weekly report. The total shown on the summary tab is 18 cases higher than the total in the detailed list. Both figures were entered today by experienced colleagues, and the report is due in an hour. There is enough time to check the source records, but doing so will delay another routine task. Your manager is in a meeting and has asked the team to submit accurate figures without waiting for them to return.

Rate the actions

For each action, choose Counterproductive, Ineffective, Fairly Effective or Effective.

Action A

Change both entries to the expected target total so that the report can be submitted on time.

Rate this action:

Action B

Use the figure entered most recently because it is likely to include the latest work.

Rate this action:
CounterproductiveIneffectiveFairly EffectiveEffective

Action C

Ask the colleague who entered one figure which total is correct, while leaving the tracker unchanged until they reply.

Rate this action:
CounterproductiveIneffectiveFairly EffectiveEffective

Action D

Compare the two totals with the source records, identify where they diverge and tell the relevant colleague before updating the tracker.
