Will My Line Manager Be Told That I Am Applying for Other Civil Service Jobs?

Hello,
I have seen an interesting vacancy in my current department and I am considering applying, but I do not want my line manager to know yet.
Our relationship is professional, although I am concerned that they may treat me differently if they think I am trying to leave the team. I have not asked them for help and the advert does not clearly say that manager approval is needed.
Will Civil Service Jobs automatically notify my line manager when I submit the application? Could the vacancy holder contact them before interview, or is this something I can keep private until I receive an offer?
I am also unsure whether not telling my manager could be treated as dishonest or misconduct.

Submitting a normal Civil Service application does not usually make secrecy a conduct issue, but the level of privacy depends on the type of move and the vacancy instructions. Loans, temporary opportunities and some expressions of interest may require manager agreement because the current team must release you or keep a role available.
