Handling Repeated Follow-Up Questions in a Civil Service Interview
Hello,
In my last HEO interview, the panel asked several follow-up questions after every behaviour answer. They asked why I chose my approach, what another stakeholder thought and how I measured the result.
I assumed my original answers had failed, so I became defensive and repeated parts of the STAR example. I then ran out of time near the end.
How should I respond when the panel keeps probing?
Quick Answer
Follow-up questions do not automatically mean the original answer was poor. Listen for the exact missing detail, answer that point directly and add new evidence instead of repeating the full example.
