Hello,
I am thinking about applying for promotion, although I am unsure whether my examples are genuinely at the next grade. My manager says I should apply, but most of my work has been completed in my current post and I have not had a formal temporary promotion.
I can show improvements, stakeholder work and delivery under pressure. I do not want to exaggerate the scale or claim decisions that belonged to someone more senior.
How can I test the examples before spending time on applications?

An example is ready when the actions match the published behaviour level and the vacancy requirements, even if the work was completed in a lower-graded post. Test the scope, judgement, influence and outcome, then remove any claims that depend only on job title or borrowed authority.
