EO Leadership Interview Questions

EO Interview Questions Leadership Interview Questions
EO behaviour interview
Show visible ownership, inclusive standards and support that helps other people succeed
EO Leadership does not require a formal management title. The panel looks for pride in the work, awareness of wider impact, positive and inclusive engagement, willingness to challenge inappropriate behaviour and recognition of other people’s contributions.

What the panel is testing

At EO level, prepare evidence that you can take visible ownership, create an inclusive environment and help others deliver confidently. The panel will test the detail behind your actions, including what you knew, what you decided, how you involved other people and how the outcome was checked.

Official EO behaviour criteria
  • show pride and passion for your work and positive, inclusive engagement with your team
  • understand your areas of responsibility and display awareness of the wider impact of your actions
  • proactively role model and promote an inclusive workplace, promptly dealing with inappropriate language and behaviours when they arise – including any instances of discrimination or misconduct
  • give praise and credit to colleagues and stakeholders where appropriate

Use the EO Behaviour Statements guide to prepare written behaviour evidence. Strength questions use a different approach and are covered in the global Civil Service Strengths Interview Questions guide.

How to prepare your evidence

1
Choose visible ownership
Prepare a situation where people looked to you for direction, standards or reassurance, even if you were not the line manager.
2
Show inclusion through action
Know how you created space for different people to contribute and responded to individual needs.
3
Prepare a standards example
Include a time you addressed poor behaviour, unsafe practice, discrimination or another issue promptly.
4
Credit others
Be ready to name how you recognised contribution and avoided presenting team success as yours alone.
5
Connect to impact
Explain how your leadership affected delivery, confidence, quality, wellbeing or the wider service.
