What to Expect in a First Civil Service Success Profiles Interview
Hello,
I have been invited to my first HEO Civil Service interview after working in the private sector. The invitation says I will be assessed on three behaviours and four strengths.
My previous interviews have mostly been conversational questions about my CV, motivation and general fit. I am unsure whether the Civil Service panel will expect fixed STAR answers or a normal discussion.
What is different about this type of interview?

A Civil Service interview is usually more structured because the panel assesses the elements named in the advert or invitation. Prepare evidence for each behaviour, expect shorter strengths questions and answer the exact wording rather than treating the interview as a general conversation about your career.
