How much of a 250-word statement should be spent on actions?
Allocating the Action Section in a 250-Word Civil Service Behaviour Statement
Hello,
I am writing a 250-word HEO behaviour statement. My current draft uses about 85 words on the situation and task, 125 on the actions and 40 on the result.
The example involves recovering a delayed workstream, so I feel the panel needs the background to understand why the deadline was difficult. Every time I cut the setup, the example feels abrupt.
Is there a sensible amount of the word count that should be reserved for actions?

Most of the statement should normally be spent on your actions because that is where the assessor sees your judgement, decisions and behaviour criteria. Treat any suggested split as an editing guide, then give the situation only enough space to make the actions understandable.
