A full-time homeworking adjustment should not create an automatic bar to promotion. The recruiting department can consider the essential duties and working arrangements of the new role, but the question should be whether reasonable adjustments can remove the disadvantage in that specific role, not whether you currently attend an office.

Follow the section-specific instructions rather than assuming every listed behaviour needs a separate mini-STAR. If the personal statement is assessed against the essential criteria, use the 500 words to provide strong evidence against those requirements and cover behaviours only where the advert says they are assessed at sift.

Name-blind recruitment normally focuses on removing information that directly identifies you, not automatically every organisation you have worked for. However, the live vacancy and form instructions control, so remove employer names if the campaign specifically tells you to do so.

Employment History should normally give the factual chronology of your roles, dates and relevant responsibilities. Previous Skills and Experience should select and explain the evidence that best matches the vacancy rather than repeating the whole career history.

You can use the same underlying project for more than one behaviour if each answer responds to the exact question and demonstrates genuinely different actions. The risk is not the shared context; it is repeating the same story and leaving the panel with narrow evidence.

You do not usually need to spend valuable personal statement words apologising for a career break. Record the gap factually where the employment history requires it, then mention the certificate or caring-period experience only where it helps prove an essential criterion.

There is not an automatic statutory right to a companion at every informal attendance meeting, but your department policy may allow one and representation may also be relevant as a reasonable adjustment. The word informal does not by itself tell you what the meeting can record or lead to.

Occupational Health can provide current, work-focused evidence and help describe why an adjustment is needed, but it does not have to erase the practical evidence that the arrangement already worked. Management still makes the workplace decision and should consider both the previous arrangement and the new role.

A live warning does not automatically cancel every Civil Service move, but it can matter if the vacancy had an eligibility rule, the transfer process asks for it or the receiving department considers it relevant to the appointment. The exact warning, campaign terms and transfer paperwork need to be checked before assuming either outcome.

A probation extension should not be treated as invisible paperwork. Departmental rules vary, but you should normally be told that probation has been extended, why it has been extended, how long it will last and what standards you must meet during the extension.
