My statement sounds polished but generic. How do I make it sound like me?

Making a Polished Civil Service Personal Statement Sound Specific and Personal

Hello,

I am applying for SEO roles and have used AI and online examples to improve the wording of my personal statement.

The grammar is strong and the structure is clear, but the statement now sounds generic. It uses phrases such as drove strategic alignment, leveraged stakeholder engagement and delivered measurable impact. I would never say those things in normal conversation.

The examples are based on my real work, but the draft feels detached from the details. I am worried that it will sound copied or generated.

How can I make it sound natural without making it less professional?

Quick Answer

Return to the facts of your own example and use the words you would use to explain the work to a colleague. Specific decisions, real constraints and credible results will sound more professional than abstract corporate phrasing.
