How do I tailor Previous Skills and Experience without rewriting my full career history?

Tailoring Previous Skills and Experience for a Senior Civil Service Application

Hello,

I am applying for a Grade 7 role after working in programme delivery for about 15 years. The essential criteria cover strategic leadership, commercial management, governance and senior stakeholders.

My current Previous Skills draft goes role by role and is over 2,000 words. Cutting older jobs feels risky because they contain some of my strongest commercial experience.

How can I tailor the section without rewriting my whole career history?

Quick Answer

Build the section around the vacancy criteria rather than retelling every job. Select the strongest evidence wherever it occurred, keep the chronological record in Employment History and use Previous Skills to present a focused Grade 7 evidence map.
